How to Get More Done and Feel Your Best!

Learning how to accomplish more and feel better can easily be seen as two lessons independent of one another. In Hal Elrod’s The Miracle Morninghowever, these accomplishments are presented as being simultaneously achievable.

The method itself is simple and even a bit selfish. The Miracle Morning’s basic principle is that by starting every day with a focus on one’s self, a person can develop a sense of accomplishment, and become more excited about the rest of their day. The intention is to cultivate greater focus, heightened levels of productivity, less stress, better relationships, and an improved quality of life.

Once Elrod finishes selling you on why you too should practice The Miracle Morning he shares some very insightful means by which anyone can create more positive habits and learn new skills.

Creating new habits is key when it comes practicing The Miracle Morning. In fact the first thing readers are challenged to do by Elrod, is change their sleeping habits.

For The Miracle Morning to work, early rising is a must. The truth is, that the farther we get into any given day the more chaotic is can become. With that chaos comes and increased likelihood that personal-time like that of The Miracle Morning will bumped from our schedules. Waking before the rest of the world is really the only way to guarantee time and undivided attention will be devoted to one’s self.

For this reason, Elrod arms his readers with an abundance of tested methods for making the adjustment to early rising as painless as possible. And in his usual way Elrod wraps a heavy dose of his charismatic writing around their explanation to ensure that his readers are motivated to make the change in their lives.

Of course, it’s common for people to wait until the last possible minute before rising from bed in the morning. We do this even at the risk of being late for school, work, or whatever else we may have going on in a given day.

I’ll admit that I was skeptical upon reading what Elrod had to say and I was certainly resistant to the idea of waking up any earlier than I was used too. I already felt less than rested so it was hard to accept that I could productively go about my day on less sleep.

If it weren’t for having known others to accomplish great things on less sleep (Dean Karnazes and Oprah Winfrey come to mind) or knowing that every accomplished professional I’ve ever admired was an early riser, I probably never would have given The Miracle Morning a chance.

Ultimately, what sent me over the edge was thinking, Why should I expect anything in my life to change for the better if I’m not willing to make changes myself?

Since I’ve been practicing The Miracle Morning I’ve been able to explore areas of interest, learn new skills, and work on my physical fitness. All of these things were pursuits I could not seem to find time for after a long day of work or between family obligations.

Now I achieve a daily sense of accomplishment before 8 am and it sets a positive tone for the rest of my day. I’m no longer distracted by thoughts of what I’d rather be using my time for while at work, I’m able to focus on the tasks at hand, I end up getting more done in less time, and I feel better about all of it.
