Get More Online Reviews Than Your Competition

The first thing you can do to increase how frequently happy customers review your business online, is to simply ask. Most companies don’t ask, and when you don’t ask the answer is always no.

Of course, when you do ask customers to review the level of service you’ve provided, be sure to ask that they review their experience working YOU the person (or whatever member of your team they worked with) rather than the business.

Throughout the sales process and fulfillment of whatever was sold, customers related to a person. So if you ask them to then review your business and not a person, some customers will be hard pressed to find the words for an online review.

Whereas, if you ask customers to review their experience having worked with you or a member of your team they will find it much more easy to relate to your request.

When asked to review an experience working with a specific person, rather than a company, Josh Kelly of RevuKangaroo has found that customers are eight times more likely to follow-through and actually write a review.

Josh has also found that reviews are also much more detailed and positive when a customer is referring to someone they know.

Why Online Review That Refer to Individuals Are So Powerful

The more details included in a particular testimonial or online review, the more believable they are to potential customers. Names in an online review are just one kind of detail that puts a new buyer at ease.

Of course, reviews that refer to specific members of your team also tend to read like stories. People – not just your potential buyers – find it really easy to relate to stories.

And for that reason stories make for great ad copy. Even on cold audiences.

When you ask customers to review you or members of our team…

  1. You increase the likelihood that an online review will actually be written.
  2. You increase the chances that the review will be positive.
  3. You increase the level of detail that will be included.
  4. You’re able to source FANTASTIC copy for future ads.
